Es ist Zeit, das Schweigen zu brechen und den Arbeitskampf, der um das Café Gagarin stattfindet solidarisch zu unterstützen. Wir sehen das Café Gagarin als wichtigen Ort der linken Szene Wiens. Dementsprechend betrifft dieser soziale Kampf uns alle, beziehungsweise noch direkter als andere Arbeitskämpfe.
Wenn wir nicht nur auf den Staat, seine Gesetze und Gerichte vertrauen wollen, dann braucht es "community accountability".
So schreibt das Kollektiv Gagarin selbst, dass sie sich nicht in der Position sehen, über "die Sinnhaftigkeit solcher „gewerkschaftlicher“ Kampagnen (...) zu urteilen. Das muss die Wiener Linke tun." (Update Gagarin 26.9.22)
In diesem Sinne wollen wir uns äußern und in diesem Sinne erwarten wir uns vom Cafe Gagarin, dass das Kollektiv Verantwortung übernimmt, sein Verhalten und seine Struktur öffentlich reflektiert und ändert.

Wir erklären uns an dieser Stelle ausdrücklich solidarisch mit den kämpfenden Arbeiter:innen und ihren Forderungen gegenüber dem Kollektiv Gagarin!
Wir fordern das Cafe Gagarin auf, die Forderungen zu erfüllen und einen Prozess der Neustrukturierung und Selbstkritik anzustoßen.

Das Kollektiv Gagarin geht von Anfang an kaum auf die konkrete Kritik und Forderungen ein. Stattdessen wird vor allem die Art der Kommunikation kritisiert und damit deren Inhalte depolitisiert.

Das ist eine Abwehrreaktion, die allen politischen Menschen, die sich mit Kämpfen gegen Diskriminierungen und Unterdrückung auseinandersetzen, bekannt ist. Dass das Cafe Gagarin aufgrund von "Stil und Tonfall" behauptet "Das ist kein Arbeiter*innenkampf" zeigt diese Logik klar auf.

Diese Dynamik darf aus der Community heraus nicht unbeantwortet bleiben.

Wir wünschen uns, dass sich weitere Mitglieder der linken Community solidarisch zu den Arbeitskämpfen positionieren und dass das Cafe Gagarin bis auf Weiteres gemieden wird.

Wir danken den Kämpfenden für ihren Mut, diese Missstände innerhalb unserer eigenen Bubble aufzuzeigen und wünschen weiterhin viel Kraft für den Arbeitskampf.

It is time to break the silence and support the workers’ struggle that is taking place around Café Gagarin in solidarity. We see Café Gagarin as an important place of the leftist scene in Vienna. Accordingly, this social struggle affects us all, or even more directly than other workers’ struggles.
If we don’t want to rely only on the state, its laws and courts, we need community accountability.
Thus, the collective Gagarin itself writes that they do not see themselves in the position to judge "the meaningfulness of such "union" campaigns (...). That’s for the Viennese left to do." (Update Gagarin 9/26-22)

In this sense we want to express ourselves and in this sense we expect from Cafe Gagarin that the collective takes responsibility, reflects its behavior and structure publicly and changes it.

At this point we declare our solidarity with the struggling workers and their demands towards the collective Gagarin!
We call on Cafe Gagarin to fulfill the demands and to initiate a process of restructuring and self-criticism.

From the beginning, the Collective Gagarin has hardly responded to the concrete criticism and demands. Instead, it mainly criticizes the way it communicates and thus depoliticizes its contents.

This is a defensive reaction that is familiar to all political people who deal with struggles against discrimination and repression. That Cafe Gagarin claims "This is not a workers* struggle" based on "style and tone" clearly shows this logic.

This dynamic must not go unanswered from within the community.

We wish that more members of the leftist community will position themselves in solidarity with the workers’ struggles and that Cafe Gagarin will be avoided for the time being.

We thank the struggling workers for their courage to point out these injustices within our own bubble and wish them continued strength for the struggle.
