Balkan Anarchist Bookfair, Ljubljana 2023: a review [en]

On the weekend from 7th to 9th of July the bookfair took place in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana. In the context of the Balkans, it is inevitable to speak about war and its devastating consequences. It would have been chance to listen to experiences from groups and individuals from this geographical and cultural space, extrapolate an analysis to contemporary events and push an open debate. This chance has been not only missed, but was actively sabotaged by the organising committee.

Wir freuen uns die nächste anarchistische Buchmesse im Balkan (BAB) ankündigen zu können. Sie wird vom 7. bis zum 9.Juli in Ljubljana, Slowenien stattfinden. Exactly one year ago today, in the early morning hours of December 15, 2021, Z. and a friend gave a ride to three people in a car in the so-called Slovenia, who stopped on the side of the road. Only a short time later, Slovenian police stopped the car, whereupon all five were arrested.

of ROG-Squat in Ljubljana happening now. Today, 19.1. around 11 a brigade of riot cops showed up without announcing, to evict the squat. Several people are taken to police station in Ljubljana. Spread the word, show solidarity in various forms! The state can’t evict a movement, the struggle for selforganised squatted, queer, feminist and antiracist places will continue!

(english below) Der besetzten ehemaligen Fahrradfabrik ROG in Ljubljana. Heute, 19.1. um cirka 11 Uhr tauchten Riot-Cops unangekündigt vor dem ROG auf um es zu räumen. Mehrere Personen wurden in die lokale Polizeidienststelle gebracht. Verbreitet die Nachricht und zeigt Solidarität in unterschiedlichen Formen. Eine Bewegung kann nicht geräumt werden! Rote Hilfe e.V. fordert die Freilassung von Ismet Kilic Auf der Rückreise aus dem Urlaub in Kroatien wurde Ismet Kilic am 26. Juli an einem Grenzübergang von der slowenischen Polizei festgenommen und befindet sich seitdem in Haft.
